The workers at LM WIND POWER BLADES TURKEY SAN. VE TİC.A.Ş., located in İzmir Bergama Industrial Park, were organized in our union Lastik-İş. More than 600 workers in the workplace will now have the opportunity to have a real and legal collective agreement. Our union will conclude collective agreements to improve the rights and freedoms of our members working at LM Rüzgar. From our union’s general executive board to İzmir branch executives and all its units, will do whatever it takes to ensure the success of the union struggle of the LM Rüzgar workers.
The meeting, attended by about 400 LM Rüzgar workers, our union’s General Secretary İhsan Malkoç, Collective Agreement and Education Department Director Üzeyir Ataman, İzmir Branch Chair Yusuf Ziya Sarı, İzmir branch official Zedin Yumli, Atty. Tolga Demirel, İzmir branch executives, union representatives from Aero Rüzgar, operating in the same sector, was held with great excitement and enthusiasm in İzmir Bergama on 21 August 2022.
The meeting started with highlights of the documentary about the history and struggle of our union. Our union’s General Secretary İhsan Malkoç congratulated the LM Rüzgar workers and expressed his happiness for their being organized in our union. He also said that they are members of a union which is a member of Confederation of Progressive Trade Unions of Turkey (DISK), which has been a leader in the class struggle in Turkey.
Our union’s Collective Agreement and Education Department Director Üzeyir Ataman made evaluations to our members about the situation of the trade union movement in Turkey, the necessity and difficulties of union organization and the legal regulations regarding collective bargaining. He concluded his presentation with an assessment of the class identity of workers gained through social struggle and a discussion of collective bargaining policies. All our members who attended the meeting expressed their expectation that similar training and familiarization meetings will continue. The women workers also requested that the women workers’ training provided by our union be put on the agenda for them as well.
