Our union had applied to the Ministry of Labor to determine that the majority required by the law was achieved at Aero Rüzgar Endüstrisi A.Ş, in which our union’s İzmir branch was organized in 2022 and 91% of the workers are members of the Union of Lastik İş, and an official certification was sent to our union by the Ministry. However, Aero Rüzgar employer applied to court regarding the official certification sent by the Ministry. As a result of Aero Rüzgar workers’ taking a firm line, Aero Rüzgar employer withdrew the lawsuit and the collective bargaining negotiations that started on 16 May 2022 ended with deal on 28 July 2022.
Effective from 1 July 2022, the monthly net salary of our members on 31 December 2021 were increased by an average of 175%, between 120% and 202% for the first six months of the collective agreement.
Moreover, the wages and social rights of our members and provisions regarding job security have been improved substantially by the first term collective agreement. The assurance that no hired workers can be employed in the workplace with employment contract established by private employment agencies have also been maintained. In addition, “Gender Equality in the Workplace” clause was also included in the collective agreement. With this achievement, ensuring equality between men and women workers in the workplace and preventing gender discrimination has become a collective agreement provision. Likewise, taking steps to prevent physical, economic and psychological violence against women workers in the workplace and guaranteed the implementation of the equal pay principle for equal work in equivalent jobs between men and women workers.
