On 17 November 2020, the meeting for the chemicals, pharmaceuticals and rubber sectors was held by our international parent organization IndustriAll European Trade Union. Our union’s Education and Collective Agreement Department Director Üzeyir Ataman and International Relations Specialist Cemal Hoşver were present at the meeting held by teleconference. The meeting, attended by trade union representatives from different countries in Europe, continued throughout the day.

In the first part of the meeting, IndustriAll European Trade Union General Secretary Luc Triangle shared information about the works of IndustriAll European Trade Union during Covid-19 and the upcoming congress preparations. Later IndustriAll European Trade Union Policy Adviser Maike Niggemann made a presentation on “Chemical Strategy for Sustainability”, IndustriAll European Trade Union Deputy Secretary General Judith Kirton-Darling made a presentation on “National and Sectoral Recovery Plans of the European Union”.
In the second part of the meeting, impacts of COVID-19 on the chemical, pharmaceutical and rubber industries and the responses of the unions were discussed by union representatives, IndustriAll European Trade Union Policy Adviser Maike Niggemann shared up-to-date information on legal initiatives for the “European Green Deal”. In the last part of the meeting, Corinna Zierold, Senior Policy Adviser of IndustriAll European Trade Union, gave information about the project “Building Capacities and Strategies of Trade Union Involvement in shaping a Just Transition towards a Sustainable and Decarbonised Industry” developed by IndustriAll European Trade Union.
